New from ACI Toys: Gangster Johnny Brooklyn New York

"Public Enemies" is a 2009 American crime drama film directed by Michael Mann and written by Mann, Ronan Bennett and Ann Biderman. It is an adaptation of Bryan Burrough's non-fiction book "Public Enemies: America's Greatest Crime Wave and the Birth of the FBI, 1933–34". Set during the Great Depression, the film chronicles the final years of the notorious bank robber John Dillinger (Johnny Depp) as he is pursued by Bureau of Investigation agent Melvin Purvis (Christian Bale), and his relationship with Billie Frechette (Marion Cotillard), as well as Purvis' pursuit of Dillinger associates and fellow criminals Homer Van Meter (Stephen Dorff) and Baby Face Nelson (Stephen Graham).

And from ACI Toys comes this 1/6 scale 1930s Gangster 12-inch figure "Gangster Johnny Brooklyn New York" whose headsculpt bears a resemblance to Christian Bale who played FBI Special agent Melvin Purvis. That makes this 12-inch figure more of a law enforcement officer than a gangster, don't you think?

Here's a teaser poster of "Public Enemies" (quite funny how ACI calls it "Plastic Enemies") with Christian Bale taken off the web

And here's the very well dressed ACI Toys: 1/6 scale Gangster Johnny Brooklyn New York 12-inch figure. He seems to come with two weapons too - the Colt M1921AC Thompson and the Browning Automatic Rifle or BAR.

One of Dillinger's bank robbers, Homer Van Meter (Stephen Dorff), uses a Browning Automatic Rifle during several of the gang's robberies. One of Purvis' FBI men is also seen firing a BAR during the Little Bohemia shootout.

Heroic had released a 1/6 scale 12-inch tall Bank Robber figure that is loosely based on Johnny Depp as John Dillinger early last year - see my post HERE
